Jonathan Curtis's Favorite Weekend Is Outside With His Family

Hiking. Camping. A trip to the park.

That is Jonathan Curtis's favorite kind of weekend with his family. No titles, no meetings, just time together outside in the place he grew up.

Curtis is a dad and a third-generation Central Oregonian. He says that whatever happens this fall, this is the part of life that matters most to him.

It is also part of why he is running for Deschutes County Clerk. He wants this community to stay a great place to raise a family, with a county government that is open, easy to use and works for everyone.

Teaching People Who Had Never Sold Anything

From July to December 2025, I was the sales manager at Amtech here in Bend. I led a team of 15 people selling AI-powered secretaries and custom software to businesses. Here's the part I'm proudest of: some of the people on that team had never worked in sales before. Start at the beginning It's easy for a manager to hire experienced people, hand them a quota and say "go." I didn't want to run a team that way. When someone joined us with no sales background, I taught them the whole process from the start: how the product works, how a call should go, how to follow up, and what you can and can't promise a customer. My job covered hiring, onboarding, training and daily coaching, along with the less exciting parts like pipeline management, forecasting and reporting. I'm Jonathan Curtis. Here's Who I Am, in My Own Words.

Hi, I'm Jon Curtis. People ask who I am, so I figured I'd answer it myself. I'm running for Deschutes County Clerk in the November 3, 2026 general election. I'm a third-generation Bend local. I grew up in Central Oregon with eight brothers and sisters, and I'm a dad now. Where I come from When I was 19, I experienced homelessness. I went to Job Corps to train as a wildland firefighter, and then worked seasonal fire for the U.S. Forest Service. In my last year, I led PT and hikes on Engine 335 under our engine captain. The work I'm proudest of Much of my working life has been in housing. I managed five apartment properties for Cascade Management in Madras, and later managed Bridge Meadows in Redmond, an intergenerational community for older adults and for families adopting or fostering kids.
