Come Watch the Count: Jonathan Curtis's Promise to Voters

Jonathan Curtis has made one promise he wants to be specific about.

If he is elected Deschutes County Clerk, watching ballots being processed will be open and easy to schedule. And when you get there, someone will explain what you are looking at in plain language.

It is the first item in his plan for elections.

Trust comes from seeing

Curtis says he has learned the same thing in every job. People trust what they can see.

When he managed housing in Redmond, saying a repair was handled meant nothing until the thing was fixed and the resident could see it.

When he trained new salespeople in Bend, they did not learn the job from a speech. He walked them through every step until they could see how it worked.

He says elections are no different. Telling people "trust us" is not a plan. Opening the door is.

Every step, written down

Curtis also wants to publish every step a ballot takes. How it is received. How it is verified. How it is counted. How it is stored. All of it in one place where anyone can read it.

Everyone is welcome

The Clerk is a nonpartisan office, and Curtis intends to keep it that way. Every voter gets the same answer, the same service and the same open door.

A person who trusts the process and a person who has doubts about it should both be welcome to come and look. If the work is done right, both will leave knowing more than when they came.

Do the work carefully. Do it where people can see. Explain it so anyone can follow.

Jonathan Curtis is a candidate for Deschutes County Clerk in the November 3, 2026 general election.
