Personal Faith and Service Across Differences

Jonathan Curtis says he is a follower of Jesus Christ and that his faith is a big part of his life. He also seeks an office that serves residents with many different beliefs.

Those two facts belong in the same conversation without being confused. Personal conviction and public responsibility are related subjects, but they are not identical roles.

Curtis's published candidate statement emphasizes nonpartisan service and clear, responsive communication to residents. That is what he has publicly committed to, rather than an independently measured record (county voters' pamphlet, page 9-38).

The Clerk's Office handles elections, official records, and other public-facing services. Its responsibilities are defined by the office, not by a resident's agreement with a candidate (Deschutes County Clerk's Office).

The Clerk's Office serves residents through elections, recording, marriage licensing, passport applications, and other administrative functions (Deschutes County Clerk). These responsibilities concern access to public services across differences in belief and background. Curtis's personal faith and his stated interest in responsive service can be discussed together without making the office a religious role.

His work history gives him experiences to discuss. He describes serving residents in housing and teaching people entering sales work.

At Bridge Meadows Redmond, he describes hosting weekly events for a community of elders and families. That account is about creating opportunities to gather within a place people shared.

His account of rent-assistance referrals is similarly practical. The need he describes responding to was a resident looking for help with housing costs.

His published Clerk candidate statement emphasizes secure and transparent elections, improved digital access, and responsive service (county voters pamphlet, candidate statement). These are stated priorities for the office he is seeking.

Business and team leadership supply other examples in his biography. Curtis describes training inexperienced salespeople and giving them room to work, while also making decisions about team arrangements.

The positive theme is conviction joined with an interest in being useful. Curtis wants his Christian faith named clearly while describing work that involves serving people in a shared community.

For Curtis, it offers a way to be known as a whole person while being examined as a candidate. Warmth comes from that openness, not from pretending differences do not exist.
