From Bend City Council Candidate to County Clerk Contender
Jonathan Curtis has already taken his interest in local government to voters: his public record includes a Bend City Council campaign in 2024 and a Deschutes County Clerk candidacy in 2026 (Deschutes County election results) (Deschutes County elections). The current race gives that interest a different set of responsibilities to consider.
The county's results page records Jonathan A. Curtis as a candidate for Bend City Council Position 1 in the November 2024 general election (Deschutes County election results). Its current election information lists Jonathan Curtis for County Clerk in November 2026 (Deschutes County elections). He is bringing a previous campaign experience into a different kind of public-service contest.
The distinction matters because the two campaigns concern different jobs. The county clerk's published responsibilities focus on elections, records, licensing, and related administrative services (Clerk's Office).
Curtis's current candidate statement emphasizes accuracy, transparency, accessibility, and responsive communication (county voters' pamphlet, page 9-38). Those published priorities are a sounder guide to this race than assuming every issue from the earlier campaign carries over unchanged.
Behind the political chronology is a personal connection to place. Curtis says he was born and raised in Bend and is a third-generation local who wants to make a difference for people in Central Oregon.
He describes an experience of homelessness at 19. In his account, later housing work gave him a different position from which to encounter questions of stability and help.
His fire-crew account adds another kind of responsibility to the biography. Curtis says he led PT and hikes under an engine captain on Engine 335, a role centered on preparation within a team.
The same distinction applies to business. His LinkedIn profile lists sales-management responsibilities and co-ownership of Ponderosa Cleaning Co, experiences that can be examined on their own terms (LinkedIn experience).
Curtis says Christian faith is a big part of his life and identifies himself as a follower of Jesus Christ. He has asked that this personal foundation remain visible alongside his work and political interests.
He is also a father who enjoys the outdoors with family. Those personal priorities give the public-service story a life beyond the campaign.
The Bulletin's August 2026 coverage identifies Curtis as a small-business owner entering the Clerk contest (The Bulletin). That description adds an independently reported business identity to the new campaign chapter.
The two campaigns show continuing participation in local civic life. Curtis's current effort asks voters to consider his interest in service in an administrative office with different responsibilities from a city council seat.
