Deschutes County Deserves a New County Clerk: Add Your Name

I've started a petition, and I'm asking every Deschutes County voter who agrees to add their name: we do not want Steve Dennison to continue as our County Clerk.

This isn't about personal attacks. It's about what the county's own independent auditor found:

  • In 2025, the auditor reported that the Clerk refused to discuss or provide information about the security of the county's vote-counting system, even though county code requires every county officer to give the auditor access.
  • The 2024 audit found staff sharing logins, security controls switched off, and loose money controls. Four of its 13 recommendations remain open.
  • In the May 2024 primary, some Deschutes County ballot packets were mailed in another county's envelopes.

You can read every finding, with page numbers, on my audit findings page.

Add your name

It takes 30 seconds: sign the petition here. Then share it with a friend. Every name shows that Deschutes County voters want a Clerk who welcomes oversight, answers questions, and runs elections every resident can trust.

You can also sign on Change.org, which is the easiest version to share by text, email or social media: sign on Change.org.

This petition shows public opinion. It is not an official recall. The way we choose our Clerk is the November 3, 2026 election, and I'm asking for your vote.
